Hosted by Clint Eastwood, Hollywood Remembers: Gary Cooper -- American Life, American Legend is a biographical portrait of the life and times of movie star Gary Cooper. The 47-minute tribute chronicles the actor's life from his early days as an "extra" in silent pictures to his acceptance of the 1960 Academy Award for lifetime achievement in film. Cooper's real-life role as a cowboy and his talent as a cartoonist are discussed, as are many of the Westerns, adventures, comedies, and war films in which he starred.

This installment in A&E's Biography series follows the life of John Wayne from his troubled childhood to his peak as America's biggest box-office draw to his later years as a controversial conservative icon. Examined closely, Wayne's life is a startling series of contradictions. He was a member of his high school's Shakespeare club who began his career by acting in scores of B-grade Westerns, and though he avoided military service, he was considered an American hero. Filled with well-chosen archival stills, as well as seldom-seen early clips, this video also features interviews with fellow actors Charlton Heston and Ron Howard, as well as writer and scholar Garry Wills (author of a brilliant intellectual study of Wayne's work and life, John Wayne's America).

Documentary about the life and work of the internationally acclaimed sculptor, whose trademark life-size plaster casts are familiar to art lovers and ordinary citizens all over the world. USA Today called him "a cultural icon." Segal's sculptures are in major museums and public spaces throughout the country, from the FDR Memorial in Washington to the Holocaust Memorial in San Francisco. Through scenes of him at work casting a model in his studio, interviews with fellow artists, critics and historians, Segal's own thoughtful analysis, and rare archival footage of the Pop Art movement in the '60s, the documentary tells the story of one man's search for a unique way to express himself. Although Segal died in June of 2000, all filming was done while he was healthy and working, so the documentary is very much a present-tense biography of an artist at the peak of his powers.

At the dinner table sits a white family: the father (a police officer), a mother and their two sons—a teenager and his younger brother. The teenager has an African-American friend, J.B., whom he wants to hang out with, but his father doesn’t want him leaving the house to meet up with J.B.—and especially not at night. “I want to keep you from bad situations,” the father explains to his son—an eerie foretelling, but more important, indicative of the violence that this white man associates with all black boys, even J.B., a black boy he knows personally and considers to be “a good kid.”

Life with Cooper was one of the TV series in which Tommy Cooper, the bumbling magician with the fez, did his tricks. It ran for twenty episodes on ABC (UK) and Thames between December 1966 and 1969. Many of the episodes were wiped, and this particular series is not his most well-known work. The remaining episodes do not appear to have been released or repeated.
